This 3x enlargement shows Surveyor I as a white spot near the edge of Framelet 248 at the middle of the picture. The shadow of the 10 foot high vehicle is 30 feet long in this view taken at a sun altitude of about 18 degrees. The prominent 90 foot crater to the east of Surveyor can be seen in pictures taken by TV cameras on the surface. Surveyor I landed in an ancient ring plain about 35 miles north of the crater Flamsteed. 1 |
