| Description: Captioned verso
From an altitude of 35 miles the Lunar Orbiter took this unusual oblique view looking to the west into Oceanus Procellarum. The hills in the foreground rise only about 2000 feet. above the plain and are located 175 miles southwest of the crater Kepler. The distance along the sunrise line at the top of the picture is 215 miles; the line lies about 120 miles from the near mountains. The area is considerably cratered by material ejected from the Kepler impact. 1 |
